Privacy and cookies

This page explains what information this website collects and why. It is written to be read, not to cover us.

Who is responsible

Gardening Extras is responsible for information collected through this website. Contact: hello@gardeningextras.com.

What we collect

Server logs. Like every website, our host records basic request details (address requested, browser type, IP address and time) to keep the site running and secure. These logs are kept for a short period and are not used to identify you.

Affiliate link clicks. When you click a link starting /go/, we record the date, which link it was and which page it was on. We do not record your IP address or anything else that identifies you.

Analytics, only if you agree. If analytics is switched on, we ask before setting any cookies. If you allow it, Google Analytics 4 records which pages are visited and how people move around the site, so we know which guides are useful. We do not use advertising cookies. If you say no, no analytics cookies are set. Your choice is stored in your browser so we do not ask again; clear your browser's site data to change it.

Email. If you email us, we keep your message to reply to it, and delete it when it is no longer needed.

Retailers

When you follow an affiliate link to a retailer, that retailer and the affiliate network may set their own cookies to record that you came from us. Their own privacy policies apply on their sites.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you can ask for a copy of information we hold about you, and ask us to correct or delete it. Email us and we will reply within one month. If you are unhappy with how we handle your information you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
